Since March of 2000 James R. Love has been the pastor. He has a BA in Pastoral Theology from Independent Baptist College and an MA in New Testament Backgrounds from Cincinnati Bible Seminary. He has also taken many continuing education classes through Hebrew Union College. He has served was an Assoc. Pastor in a different church for 9 yrs and worked in administration and teaching in a Christian school.
Pastor Love has been married to Tammy since June 1981 and they have 3 daughters: April, Charissa, and Brittany. All three girls are married to young men that are active in our church. They currently have seven grandchildren.
On top of pastoral duties, Pastor Love serves as the local Police Chaplain and works closely with local funeral homes. He is also a part of Leadership Training Institute of America (LTIA.org) in Washington, D.C. every year.
Pastor Love enjoys playing racquetball, riding his motorcycle, occasionally hacking at a golf ball, but mostly reading with a cup of coffee.
Evangelist / Minister to Seniors
Dr. James Wm. Love is our Evangelist and Minister to the Seniors. He is the father of the pastor. His experience includes starting a church in Norwood, OH, working as an Associate Pastor for three years, pastoring four churches for a total of 29 years, as well as serving as a missionary in Mexico for six years. After a combined 38 years of ministry, he is still preaching and teaching today.
Bro. Love and Margie fit a great need at SMBC. They have involved themselves in many areas of service, including helping with the elderly, teaching Sunday School, discipling individuals, and overseeing our four nursing home services. He is also a teacher in the church's Bible Institute as needed.
Bro. Love is often requested to speak in revivals and special occasions. He is available to minister to other churches and will be a tenured help if needed.
Steve Francis came to SMBC with his wife Joy to work as the Youth Minister in June of 2004. Steve graduated from Pensacola Christian College with a degree in Bible and a minor in music in 1997. After working a year with Pastor Love in another ministry, the Lord called Steve back to PCC to get his MA in Education Admin. He graduated in the summer of 2000 and went on faculty at the college until The Lord called him here to work with our youth. He has since stepped down as Youth Minister and is now working as the Music Minister at the church. Joy has a nursing degree and a masters degree in nursing admin. She spent eight years on the Nursing Faculty of PCC, where she met Steve. Steve and Joy have two sons and one daughter: Brendan, Dylan and Kiersten.
Pastor to the Teens
Bryan Hoskins grew up in Southland Missionary Baptist Church where his father was a deacon and his mother taught Sunday School. Bryan took some classes at Grace Baptist in Middletown before moving to Oklahoma City to attend Heartland Baptist Bible College. While living there he married Charissa Love and worked in Vandament Avenue Baptist Church in Yukon, OK. After returning to Cincinnati Bryan worked with the youth at Freedom Memorial Baptist Church. Bryan and Charissa have been working at Southland Missionary Baptist Church since July of 2010, and was ordained into the ministry January 2014. They have two children; Taylor and Benjamin.
Tim & Melinda Mintkenbaugh are long time church members of SMBC. Tim was ordained into the ministry in 1995 and started working with the Youth Pastor. They later moved into the Young Adult Ministry. Currently Tim has become our Church Counselor and is pursuing a degree in Counseling. He is also the coordinator for our Discipleship program. Tim is also a West Chester police officer and brings a great amount of varied experience into ministry because of his job, including Police Chaplain.
Tim & Melinda have three sons, two married, and one in High School. They are all active in various ministries in the church.
